June Madness

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

So for my journaling purposes, here's some highlights of the last month or so:

We finally had some family pictures taken by a friend who's still learning, which means free pictures! Some are below and others are around the blog, as is probably obvious. :-)

I decorated a cake for a bridal shower.

We've been taking advantage of the summer reading program at the library and the activities. This was from the dessert sushi class...oh my sugar overload! My teeth just hurt looking at this picture! But this is nothing compared to the cupcake decorating day...ugggg! We each decorated one AND all 3 kids won another one! (We did not eat all of those. Ed took them to work, thankfully!)

Naturally, we celebrated Father's Day. Daddy got a special, hand stitched (with love :-D) "massage" shirt. Those are my kiddos hands outlined on felt...and the back is a road for the kiddos to drive their cars on while daddy relaxes.

These are the cards the girls made for him. This is Lexi's:

And then Lexi's birthday! She was counting down the days. Her favorite part about Father's Day was that it meant only one week til her birthday! We're not self-centered or anything! ;-)

It made for a long two days, since there's not much you can do on a Sunday that's exciting for a 5 year old. And it was Stake Conference, which is the last thing I'd want to do for church on my birthday...and I'm 28. We didn't even end up going, but we'll get to that.

So I made some Belgium waffles with strawberries and Cool Whip for breakfast, Lexi opened her presents and talked with Grandma and Grandpa Leavitt. Then I took the kids upstairs for baths and my crazy, can't-take-my-eyes-off-of little boy, got a hold of some of Daddy's work clothes inside the hamper in the hall...and BAM! It fell on him. Which USUALLY would just mean a little bonk and no permanent harm. Oh contrare! He knocked out one of his new little teeth. Gone. So after a trip to the ER and alot of bleeding... and I do mean, A LOT... my little boy now looks like a hillbilly with his one tooth on the bottom until some more decide to come :-( But he's still my happiest kid!
While Daddy and Hunter were resting, Lexi helped me decorate her cake. This may be the last one I do for her since....she never eats cake. Seriously. I'm sticking with pie or ice cream from now on.

We had Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner. Yeah...no hot dogs or mac and cheese for this birthday girl. She goes for the best, I guess. High maintenance, anyone? Then we had her strawberry cake with strawberry ice cream...any guesses what her favorite fruit is????

The following day, we went to the Bishop Museum. It's a fun local museum of this Hawaiian lady's old home named Bernice Bishop, but in addition to Hawaiian history stuff, there's a science building that teaches about local plants, animals, weather...and volcanoes! Another building houses traveling exhibits, and this time its was all about the human body, presented by Sesame Street. Needless to say, it was a good morning :-)

Afterwards, we had lunch at Wendy's with some friends, then picked up Daddy (he's on the night shift so he had to sleep) and went to see Brave!
And my girls may not be the best behaved kids (anyone who claims to have children that are...are selling something!), but they sat and watched that movie like perfect angels. :-) Hunter fell asleep halfway through with minimal fussing, so I still count that as a success! I love that every year, Pixar puts out a movie for Lexi's birthday; it's so sweet!

We finished up the day with a trip to Subway, then Lexi's free Cold Stone ice cream...

Whew, I'm tired just writing it out!
