Our Newest Worldly Possession

So we (meaning my studly husband who ran around and did everything today on his day off) got everything squared away and we were able to bring home our new van.

It's nothing special, but it has all the necessities a.k.a. more than 3 squished seats in the back, a nice A/C, and a good CD/stereo system to keep the children happy with music. What more do you need in a family vehicle? It is an added bonus that now we don't have to do a lot of maneuvering of trying to figure out who gets the car when when I need it for one thing and Ed needs it for another... within the same time frame. And now any family and friends who come to see us don't have to rent a car anymore because if you're with us...you'll fit. And if you don't, we have another car! I guess it was pretty lucky of us to make it this far without a minivan since many of my friends got one with their second child, but hey, we always make the best of what we have. But we just couldn't push it anymore ;-)

I just keep telling myself it's almost over...

This post is brought to you by the makers of Zantac, who are responsible for me actually getting some sleep last night :-)

Don't you hate when people ask "How are you feeling?" when you're pregnant?

Maybe not.

It just seems that it's just a question that is asked with no real intent to make a conversation out of it, but darn it... if you ask me that... you're asking for a conversation!

In most cases, you get an "oh, I'm doing alright" or "pretty good"... Lucky women...

I usually start with an "eh" (accompanied by a shoulder shrug)... and see if they care to hear the rest, which many times they don't, so I just go on my way. Yes, me and being pregnant just don't really get along. It may have something to do with having young ones that makes it harder, but I'm really feeling pains all over, both old and new. None of which are all too surprising, so I endure. I get the nausea in the third trimester since my tummy just doesn't want to grow...though it has more than previously. I got the stretch marks to prove it. :-)  And if you take a look over at my side bar, I only have a little less than a month and a half of which I should have to endure, though he's welcome to come anytime after Oct. 6...which is when I'm "at term" :-)

So that's my explanation as to why I've been slacking on posts... I just don't feel good and when I do.... I'm going to go do something other than sit at the computer. It helps me ignore my uncomfortableness, but it also sucks away MY SOUL!

So my lovely husband celebrated his birthday last week and to celebrate, we bought a van! Okay, no, that was not his birthday present... He just happened to have that day off and was getting out some baby stuff from storage, resulting in the testing of 3 car seats of varying sizes in our car... only to discover that was not a successful endeavor. So we hopped onto Craigslist and checked out some vans for sale and eventually found a family with one we were willing to look at... and discovered they were selling 3 vans. So we tested the 2 we liked, and decided to go ahead and get our new little van for the rest of our stay here on the island. I will have to post pictures at a later date since the Navy has taken over our humble Air Force base with all these new rules and whatnot, and since we need to get the registration in our name before it can come home with us, it is now parked outside a friend's house just off base. :-(

Other than that, my 2 year old is finally reaching those "terrible 2's" and along with the tantrums... prefers not to wear clothing, with the occasion skirt pulled on for parts of the day. It's actually funny to put her to sleep, in her pajamas, and meet her in the morning with nothing but a diaper on.

And since my children are as bored as ever with Mom being uncontrollably drawn to the couch, I finally got some energy to make some cookies here and there to send to Daddy's work. Last week, we decorated sugar cookies, mainly because I had frosting in the fridge I wanted to get rid of. So I made a quick recipe, and just let the girls have fun cutting out people to decorate, since these were for no particular reason.

Here are some that Carissa cut out :-)

And then a little decorating:

Carissa got a little impatient and decided to stab hers (clogging up the tip) until she figured out how to get the frosting to come out :-)

If you notice... getting little girls to keep their icing bags twisted is not an easy task, so I snapped some Pampered Chef clips on there for them... and Voila! Easy Peasy!

So yeah... not much excitement here as of right now. But don't worry... I'm sure I'll have some exciting news here in the next month or two ;-) Until then, Hunter says hello by kicking all my organs and nerves and whatever else he can find in there. And he's pretty social, just like his dad!
Ugh!
