Annnnnnddddd......

Dessert!

So we have this new farmer's market that opened this week...killer deals on fruits, veggies, etc. I bought us some assortment of berries with the intent of making something uber delish with them...and here it is. Little mini pies made with the no fail pie crust recipe, and 3 berry filling (blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries), topped off with a crumbly crust....oooh yeah, and it tasted BETTER than it looks! Booyah!

Before

mid way...so you can see the yumminess

(Sorry...I just was very excited about this...can you tell?)

For all you Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans...

Why we will need to eventually get a taller TV stand...
They even give commentary sometimes, resulting in lovely smudges all over the screen :)

Another Pleasant Sunday

So today, we had Stake Conference, and like many other Sundays, we spent the majority of it in the halls trying to keep one or the other child happy. What I did pick up from the talks was great. We have a good Stake Presidency that is truly inspired to help guide us. Since they were doing a new thing where they broadcast conference to all the buildings in the Stake, we got to attend the church building just up the street from us (where the singles' ward meets), and that gave us a chance to walk to church on this lovely Sunday morning. Then we came home, got Home taught, and made a delicious dinner of barbeque chicken sandwiches, asparagus, and lemonade. Ahhhhh....
We decided to try out the Bumbo on Carissa and she looked so cute. It's designed to help kids sit up before they can on their own, but since many babies are bigger than her, we had to adapt and use a blanket in it as well.
She liked it though. Lexi thought it was fun and they played for some time. We gave her her musical doggy mirror and she was mesmerized.
(here you can also witness the lovely spit up that is always coming out of her mouth at any possible moment...oooh, so exciting, I know)
She looks like she's being swallowed up by a marshmallow in this one.
Lexi is also REALLY into kissing and hugging EVERYONE, and Carissa is usually an unwilling recipient of this love fest.

Banana + Horton= Time for Mom to get dinner made

It is a rare rare day that she doesn't request this movie... But we try to limit it to once a week, for my sanity. Thus, I still enjoy the movie as well.

Tummy time revisited

Obviously, tummy time is MUCH better when you have a big sister doing it with you.

We are much happier, now aren't we?

AHH! Not Tummy Time!

What a tramatizing experience!

(She was actually happy when I originally grabbed the camera. I don't enjoy torturing my children, honestly.)

Carissa's Blessing - May 3rd

On Sunday, we had Carissa's Blessing and it was lovely (of course). It was good to see some family that was able to visit, but poor Lexi came down with some nasty virus on Friday and was fighting a fever all weekend, making a fun family weekend not so much fun. She's finally doing better, but sleeping alot lately to make up for the restless weekend she had. She seems to look alright in the pictures, and it was a shame she felt so crummy with her cousins in town.

This is the dress my mom made for Lexi, and again, pictures can be deceiving. I remember it looking so big in her pictures, but when I took it out to get ready for Carissa, I was like "Whoa! This is a small dress!" What can I say? My girls are little.

Our next part of the post is titled:
How many people can you get to look at the camera for a family photo?

Exhibit A:
Status: 15 people looking in the camera's general direction, 4 with eyes closed.
Exhibit B:

Status: 12 people looking in the camera's general direction, 2 grandmas talking to the missionaries taking the pictures, and 6 people looking down.

Exhibit C:

Status: 8 people looking toward the camera, 3 extraneous conversations, and 9 scowling faces.

Exhibit D:

Status: 18 people looking at the camera, 5 people looking down, and the best one out of the four.
In addition, all of them hardly show the girl of the hour, Carissa. She's the white blob wth the arms sticking up in dad's arms. I also noticed one of my nephews is completely MIA the whole time (where did you go, Aaron?) which makes poor Lynn's efforts to get her boys to even look at the camera seem like gold. Also note, the little girl sporting the yo-yo fever, Lexi, is looking at the camera in 3 outta 4 pictures, only to be out done by Amber, who kept her face and smile in place the whole time. That's my girl! I'm sure I could continue to analyze these photos for hours, but my point is this:
It's near impossible to get my family to all look at the camera for a family shot, which goes to show, we're too easily distracted.
Afterwards, we got together for a delicious pasta bar at my parents' home. It was good to see family, but now my mother can resume her not-so-crazy household after playing hostess for so many. Thanks Mom!
