This video just says it all:
(Tip: I know the lighting stinks, Mom and Dad, so stand up and look at it from an angle...see if that helps. I works for us.)

Our first Dusting
Last Wednesday, we woke up to a good dusting of snow on the grass out front. We took advantage of the short lived cold weather and bundled up Lexi in her snow suit. She had fun. We just wish she could use it more... but I guess we're getting some good use out of her warm weather clothes she still fits into!

Dance Dance Revolution
Tonight, I was working on part of Eddie's halloween costume, so I thought it only fair that he be responsible for taking care of Lexi so I didn't have a cute little child stepping on my foot pedal to the sewing machine at the most inopportune time...as has happened in past attempts to sew when Eddie wasn't able to help me out. Of course, quality time to him means playing a game on his game systems, but I'm ok with the ones that are more than just blowing up some bad guy with my fake gun (or light saber, or whatever weapon), so Dance Dance is fun. This was the first time daddy got it out since Lexi has been walking, so it was a whole new experience!

The many styles of a 1 year old
Somedays, I'm good if I get Lexi dressed in a shirt and bottoms, but other times, I actually get her dressed up, like in this pic. She liked my purple hat and there were some pigtails underneath, until she pulled them out.
She also likes wearing our shoes...
Along with Mardi Gras beads...she puts them on everytime she finds them in her toy basket.
Here's my little gypsy...

This Week in Review...
Since the last blog on Tuesday:

While Grandma and Grandpa were still here on Tuesday, Lexi played in the leaves out in front of our apartment. The pictures didn't turn out too well, but she had alot of fun!
We also got the new Blueberry Muffin mini wheats, which Lexi really likes to eat. I had them on a shelf that she can reach and one night, I'm making dinner and I hear the sounds on her swiping something off the shelf, followed by this maniacal laughter. I look in the living room and she's sitting there, chowing down on the mini wheats, grinning ear to ear.
I took a cake decorating class from mom with some ladies in my ward and here is my attempt at decorating a cake all by myself. I guess mom's 30 years have paid off.
That night, when I changed Lexi's diaper, I just left her in her onesie since she was going to be taking a bath later, but I guess she wanted to be dressed again, cause she got herself dressed again, necklace included, while I was checking my email... kinda...
Here's her chilling while I was making dinner on Thursday.
Here she is checking the family blog with me on Friday:
And tonight, we made cookies together:
She later broke off a piece of the cookie and we thought she was going to eat it, but first sucked off all the frosting!
Oh and here's a pic a week ago of her playing Guitar Hero with daddy...cutie!

You should see the other guy...
So at first glance, my baby looks pretty beat up. She decided she couldn't see conference good enough from where she was sitting, added to her being disoriented from her wannabe measles, added to a huge noggin, she took a little tumble on Saturday and fell on her face from the high chair. Since I was feeling like the world's worse mother ever, I did not take pictures, but believe me, she looked like she had just come out of a fight. But as you can see, she's healing.
Today, she had to have some blood drawn for the doctor (he thinks her spleen is a little enlarged and it trying to figure out just why), so she got a big pink bandage on her arm afterwards, not to mention a chocolate shake. I couldn't even bear to watch so my dad had to hold her.

Day in the life of a sick child
What do you like to do when you're sick? I like to lay in bed, watching a movie, eat light meals that feel good on my tummy, and if I'm lucky, have someone waiting on me hand and foot. Mainly, because I feel miserable. But Lexi is funny like that. Wednesday morning, she woke up many times and I finally realized she was blazing hot. I stripped her down to a diaper, and she slept the rest of the morning. But the rest of the morning, she still felt so warm. I gave her a bagel to chomp on while i fixed lunch to take to Eddie and the next thing I know, she's like this:
We go and eat with daddy, no hint of not even feeling good, just a little tired due to the rough night we had previously. I put her in warm pajamas, which was stupid of me. I know better than that. So it didn't even dawn on me that she could be sick. In additon, the thermometer said 96.4...not a bad temp.
As the day progressed and she took her afternoon nap (and I took one as well) She woke up prematurely, completely soaking wet in perspiration. I bring her into my bedroom, which is a bit cooler and bam! Out again, right there on my bed. I go cool off her room with an open window and put her back 30 minutes later. I finally decide to check her temperature again. 96 again. Something's not right. I clean off the lens and voila! 100.4... more like it.
She's happy and done napping, despite the temperature (I had given her some Tylenol before her nap), I gave her a bowl of Bananas, and set her on a cool blanket on the couch and let her watch Monsters, Inc. She sat there for about an hour straight, perfectly happy and calm, but still, she sat there. That never happens...
Curious, I take her temp again. 102.5...hmmm. I gave her more Tylenol when I could. We ate dinner...went about our day. She's happy and playing, but still warm. Temp: 103.4... What? Gave her another dose on schedule, got a blessing from Daddy and home teacher, and 30 minutes later, 104.4... huh? Call the doctor. She's obviously having a reaction from her shot last week, since I quickly read up on the vaccines and still, she wasn't acting too sick. She fell asleep in daddy's arms, and slept a little better.
This morning, her tummy is covered in spots and it has shown up everywhere from head to toe, but she's happy as a clam. Temp is alot lower... started going up again as she was more tired before nap, but still, she isn't acting sick. You wouldn't think it to look at her:
(This pics aren't the best, but you try photographing a 1 year old close up)
and here she is dancing with dad on Guitar Hero.
and playing on the computer.
I wish I felt this good with a fever and rash! :-)
(additional Note: As I was finishing this blog, Lexi woke up from her nap suddenly and cried uncontrollably for 30 minutes nonstop...so maybe she's not as happy today as I thought... :-( )
