Carissa's first flowers from a boy

You see this cute little girl with her flowers?
She couldn't be more happy.
What you don't see is the small gash on her head. :-(

Our ward has a small group of ladies that get together every week with our kids so they can play, and the moms can have some type of social life. We meet at this beautiful park with large trees and beautiful surroundings, not to mention the breeze that keeps it just the right coolness for us tired mommas to relax. Well, many times, one kid or another will run away and have to be caught by their mom, or another mom. Many times, kids will find random objects that are the new "toy" of the day.
So the part about us all relaxing...yeah, totally made that up.
When my girls are out actually playing nicely, I still have little stinker boy to watch like a hawk so he doesn't eat the closest non-edible thing...surrounded by a pile of edible snacks, of course.

Well, today's toys were a workout instructor's stretchy bands and a brick.
I confiscated the bands.
I didn't even know that the brick was still in the kids' possession.

Well, one minute, I hear one friend tell her son to put down the brick. Then the next minute, another friend's son picked it back up. Meanwhile, Carissa was playing behind the tree with them, so I can't see any of this from where I was sitting. Next thing I know, I hear Carissa crying, my first friend jumps up to get her, and as I'm asking if she's okay, she looks down and says, "No, she's not. Her head is bleeding."
You wouldn't believe how fast I had moms grabbing wipes for her head, water to rinse off the excessive blood, one of her nursery leaders just held her and sang to her while I held a wipe over her head. Another lady (not even in our group) brought us some gauze to put on her head, while another friend called my husband. Then she picked up Hunter and held him til he fell asleep. She was such a trooper.
I didn't even know what had happened until someone explained that her friend was holding the brick above her head and just let go. His mom, one of my good friends, felt terrible. But kids will be kids. It was just a bad accident.
Once Eddie got there, the bleeding had pretty much stopped, so we decided to hold off on the ER unless her behavior indicated otherwise. I gave her a bath to clean her off when we got home and finally was able to see where she got cut. The gash is less than 2 inches and not very deep, but it seemed worse because it was a head wound. I did start to worry again when I looked at her head during lunch and saw a patch of fresh blood that didn't really dry for a few hours. Luckily, I also have a sister in law who's a nurse and is married to my brother, the master of head wounds :-) So she helped ease my mind.
After cleaning it off again before dinner and pinning back her hair to allow it to dry better, it scabbed up well and looks much better. That's when her friend stopped by and brought over this small bouquet of flowers for Carissa that his mom had him earn the money for with little chores around the house. It was so sweet and she felt so special. As soon as daddy got up, she ran in and showed him her "Flowers from Ernie".
You gotta admit, I got some awesome women in my ward!

Very sweet! Hopefully those will be the first of many bouquets she will get. Hopefully, she won't have to get hit on the head before receiving each :).
