In the words of Chef Gusteau...

"Anyone Can Cook!"

I was very fortunate to have a mom that not only was an excellent cook and baker, but she also passed her skills on to her children. Some fun memories included Sunday evening when my mom and I would make cookies together, sometimes with me doing most of it as I got older and older and then having fresh baked cookies that I actually made. Somehow, it made them taste better. We'd also have the fun of seeing how long til my dad and brothers came in with their spoons and doggy faces, ready for their scoops of dough. I remember one brother bringing in the largest spoon he could find because Mom said, " Just one spoonful". He wasn't stupid.

So on Valentine's day, I decided Lexi was now (at about 20 months old) old enough to learn the traits of a good cook. So she helped me make the sugar cookies and she was soooo happy to help! Then on Sunday, I wanted to make something with chocolate and since the vote cast by Eddie was Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, I let Lexi help me once again. Maybe when she's tall enough to reach the counters, she'll be ready to do all her own cooking. Wishful thinking? Nah...

(Notice the lovely "bed head"...the price to pay after being really cute at church with curls)

What is it about the letter "I"?

Lexi has a few Alphabet sets:

A foam set for the bath tub

A wooden puzzle

and A magnetic set

Each time she plays with them and a letter inevitably ends up in her mouth, it's the letter "I". Why? Does it look like a popsicle? A candy? I don't know. But it's always that letter first. She looks for it first, before attempting to eat every other letter after I've taken away the "I". It's become a game. It's also the smallest piece, which is the only reason for concern...most pieces won't fit all the way in her mouth, but those "I"'s sure do. The foam one is pretty mutilated at this point.

Twins

So when I dressed Lexi a few weeks ago, I put together this cute outfit and it wasn't until later that evening when she was playing with her doll that I noticed... She looked just like her baby doll. The shirts were even the same style as well as color. Crazy!

The Next Rock Star?

Playing Rock Band with Daddy and Uncle Tony. Eddie thinks that by the time she's 5, she'll be whipping him on Guitar Hero.

Recap of Sunday Morning

On rare occasions, I find time that I trust that I can distract Lexi long enough to curl her hair with the curling iron...and today was one such occasion. These were some of the best shots we got. She does look cute when her hair is curled...unfortunately, she got mom's straight-as-a-board locks, so we don't see it much.
We also managed to stay in the chapel for all but one minute (dad went to get her some water) today, and she sang along to all the hymns. Not quite sure what words were coming out, but I did hear some "Cheese" and "Shoes" come out. It's a start.

How to make a toddler eat

Spell out her name in PB and J with cookie cutters !
She thought it was so cool! Awww...to be so easily amused....

Lexi's reading corner...er...sort of

Lexi likes propping books up on shelves, or anything like a shelf. It's just her thing. Most of the time, she'll go between the armchair and the air conditioner, like so:

At any given time, I will find a book or two just sitting on the AC.

Other times, she sits on my containers for baking and makes herself comfortable:

I've had to get used to reading only when Lexi isn't around because she always steals my books. It's kinda nerve racking at times. But can I really be mad at her for wanting to play with books?

Lexi and her baby

So I mentioned previously that we got Lexi a doll with all the simple furniture. She loves to run around with the stroller, even after her doll has fallen out. This morning, she actually chased me around the apartment, intentionally running into my legs. Silly girl. I finally got some snapshots of her and her baby doll.

She also thinks the baby's crib is a fun place to play, and got really mad at dad for putting the baby in it. She chucked that doll like it was the spawn of the devil.

My Computer's back...Yea!

So No, I have not been slacking with nothing to blog or so busy that I've forgotten to. My computer decided to not start up back on the 1st of January and thanks to the customer service guy based in India, we couldn't just simply order the cd needed to restore it...no, Eddie got to go through a thousand hoops trying to first off explain to the guy what we were seeing and what he thought we were seeing were two different things until we got to the point that we couldn't restore anything without wiping out the hard drive. So that meant backing up our files and restoring our computer to "like new" condition. Lame. But, now, a month later, I am back and will probably have to post a few blogs here to catch us up. I haven't even taken as many pictures this month cause I had no one to share them with... Sad day. I was confined to the 2x3 screen of internet viewing pleasure on my phone, which sad to say, is much faster than my old laptop which I'm sure Lexi wouldn't have left alone if I had gotten it out with cords and all that jazz. So hello again, outside world! (But really, My house does seem cleaner when I'm not surfing the internet as much.)
