Snapshots from the past month

This is one of those precious moments you sometimes luck out in catching on camera:


For Lexi's birthday, one of her presents was a cute dress from Grandma with a matching ladybug hairclip. She loved it so much, she was in tears when it was time to take it off at the end of the day to put on her pajamas.

This is now her "Princess Dress", which isn't too special, considering EVERYTHING she owns is a "Princess (whatever)". Seriously. But that's the only way we can get her to change clothes each day.

A typical morning goes like this:

"No, Princess clothes!"

"These ARE Princess clothes."

"Princess?"

"Yes, Princess shirt."

"But Princess dress... (her nightgown)"

"It's okay, we'll put the Princess dress on your bed for nighttime"

"OK, Princess shirt."

and then she gets dressed.

It seems like we have to put "Princess" in everything we say sometimes....

(I'm reminded of a part from "Horton Hears a Who":

"You know, putting "WHO" in front of everything doesn't make it hurt less, it just wastes time!" )

Here's a picture of Lexi's Aquadoodle. You fill the "pen" with water and draw away. When it dries, you start all over again. She loves it, but mostly she loves making other people draw and she'll praise you. But usually she doesn't like to give you a choice. Another common phrase: "You can color" followed by a demanding finger pointing to where you are to do so. This applies to coloring with her new crayons too. But you must color with the crayon she gives you, at the designated location, that very moment...or else, she reminds you that she is indeed 2!

The Fourth of July has usually been a favorite holiday, what with the root beer floats and the bar-b-quing, not to mention fireworks. But this year, kinda a boring 4th. Sure, we spent the day with my folks, but had to eat our burgers inside due to the rain outside most of the day, and then when we were going to go watch some fireworks, it started raining again, and my girls both fell asleep in the car. Oh and my husband had to work! On a federal holiday. I think if your cell phone has problems with sending a picture message, you should get over it and understand that it's a holiday that no one should have to be working....grrr....

Last week, I reread the 6th Harry Potter book so that when I go see the movie sometime here soon, I will be able to fill in the inevitable gaps and have the story make sense. Lexi decided she wanted to read it too, so she took the book away from me alot.

She still loves her books, which is awesome! Actually, I had to drag her out of Target yesterday because she wouldn't leave the book section, but we had to go.

And we needed to get her some new Sunday shoes, and got 3 pairs for under $10 at Target (Thank you clearance racks!) including these cute heels. Just couldn't resist, especially since she is always putting mine on. Now we are twins!

Okay, so that's a quick summary of the past few weeks. Sorry I was slacking for a while there. I grounded myself from the computer in an effort to get more housework done... but... it didn't really happen. I just read Harry Potter instead. :-)
