Day in the life of a sick child

What do you like to do when you're sick? I like to lay in bed, watching a movie, eat light meals that feel good on my tummy, and if I'm lucky, have someone waiting on me hand and foot. Mainly, because I feel miserable. But Lexi is funny like that. Wednesday morning, she woke up many times and I finally realized she was blazing hot. I stripped her down to a diaper, and she slept the rest of the morning. But the rest of the morning, she still felt so warm. I gave her a bagel to chomp on while i fixed lunch to take to Eddie and the next thing I know, she's like this:

We go and eat with daddy, no hint of not even feeling good, just a little tired due to the rough night we had previously. I put her in warm pajamas, which was stupid of me. I know better than that. So it didn't even dawn on me that she could be sick. In additon, the thermometer said 96.4...not a bad temp.

As the day progressed and she took her afternoon nap (and I took one as well) She woke up prematurely, completely soaking wet in perspiration. I bring her into my bedroom, which is a bit cooler and bam! Out again, right there on my bed. I go cool off her room with an open window and put her back 30 minutes later. I finally decide to check her temperature again. 96 again. Something's not right. I clean off the lens and voila! 100.4... more like it.

She's happy and done napping, despite the temperature (I had given her some Tylenol before her nap), I gave her a bowl of Bananas, and set her on a cool blanket on the couch and let her watch Monsters, Inc. She sat there for about an hour straight, perfectly happy and calm, but still, she sat there. That never happens...

Curious, I take her temp again. 102.5...hmmm. I gave her more Tylenol when I could. We ate dinner...went about our day. She's happy and playing, but still warm. Temp: 103.4... What? Gave her another dose on schedule, got a blessing from Daddy and home teacher, and 30 minutes later, 104.4... huh? Call the doctor. She's obviously having a reaction from her shot last week, since I quickly read up on the vaccines and still, she wasn't acting too sick. She fell asleep in daddy's arms, and slept a little better.

This morning, her tummy is covered in spots and it has shown up everywhere from head to toe, but she's happy as a clam. Temp is alot lower... started going up again as she was more tired before nap, but still, she isn't acting sick. You wouldn't think it to look at her:

(This pics aren't the best, but you try photographing a 1 year old close up)

and here she is dancing with dad on Guitar Hero.

and playing on the computer.

I wish I felt this good with a fever and rash! :-)
(additional Note: As I was finishing this blog, Lexi woke up from her nap suddenly and cried uncontrollably for 30 minutes nonstop...so maybe she's not as happy today as I thought... :-( )
